My name is Rachel. I am an Occupational Therapist whose focus is working with individuals with neurological differences, with a special interest in ADHD. I have worked with individuals with brain injuries and neurological differences both in the hospital setting and the community.
Throughout my career, I have become skilled not only in cognitive retraining, functional rehabilitation for neurological differences and skill building, but also in various mental health techniques including cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness practice and exposure therapy.
I further started developing a passion for working with people with ADHD after my husband was diagnosed as an adult and we struggled to find a therapist that had an understanding of the unique challenges that he was facing as a result of his ADHD and would be able to support him to better manage his symptoms. As a result, I decided to start my own journey to become an ADHD Rehabilitation Services Provider (ADHD-RSP).
My goal as an Occupational Therapist is to support individuals to improve their participation and effectiveness completing activities that they want and need to do. Education is central to my treatment style in order to help my clients better understand their brain and how their condition may be impacting their cognitive, physical and emotional functioning. I work together with my clients to understand areas that are more challenging for them and to jointly develop strategies to better manage their symptoms and support their wellbeing.
